red dot award 2009

New pressure cookers and knives from Fissler win four red dot awards.

Not even on the market yet, they have already been awarded one of the most coveted of design prizes. Praise is being heaped on the new pressure cookers and knives from Fissler even before their launch in the spring of 2009. In fact, four new products produced by the cookware manufacturer from Idar-Oberstein are among the prize winners of the renowned red dot awards for "product design 2009". Both of the new pressure cooker models, vitavit® premium and vitavit® comfort, as well as the perfection and passion knife lines won over the illustrious jury.

"For Fissler, design is not only beautiful, but always functional as well. After all, we want our products to be easy for people to use," explains Marketing Director Stefan Loges. "Being recognized with the red dot award shows that we have done our work well. And we are proud of that."

In creating the new knife lines, Fissler worked with internationally renowned designer Thomas Gerlach (via 4 design), winner of numerous awards. And this collaboration has now been crowned with success. The eminent yellow design team was responsible for the new pressure cookers. The icons of the 1950s were rejuvenated visually and equipped with new, practical features. They are less convex and less technical, but instead have been given puristic and clear-cut lines. This is the look of the new vitavit® pressure cooker generation that is about to take its place in German kitchens.

The red dot award has been conferred annually since 1955 and is one of the world’s most prominent design prizes. Manufacturers and designers of a broad spectrum of industrial products compete in various categories for the coveted honor, backed by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. In 2009, approximately 1,400 companies from 49 countries submitted a total of 3,231 products to the competition - proof of the worldwide importance of the red dot seal of quality.
